Treadmills offer lots of features and options. With high tech electronic consoles and adjustable incline settings, there are lots of ways to use your treadmill. But, there are some simple routines you can do to spice up your treadmill workouts without all the fancy buttons and gadgets. Here are some ideas to add some variety to your routine.

Walk Backwards

Here’s a simple idea that’s never occurred to most treadmill users. Why not turn around and try it backward for a while?

Going backwards on the treadmill can do wonders for your coordination and balance. At first, it’s awkward, but after a while you’re balance improves and it’s a piece of cake. Walking backwards can also build strength in some of the leg muscles you don’t use often in ordinary walking.

Count Your Steps

You may be taking shorter or longer strides during your workout and not even realize it. The most exercise efficient walking is a consistent pace. When we start to get tired, we may cut corners and slow it down without slowing down the actual speed of the treadmill.

To make sure you are maintaining the same pace throughout, count your steps. Keep track of how many steps you take in one minute. Every now and then, count for a minute and see if you’re consistent or not. It’s better for your workout to take small, fast steps. Challenge yourself and see if you can beat your high score!

Let The Networks Time Your Workout

Here’s a fun and entertaining way to time your workout: watch TV. Lots of people watch TV while doing their treadmill exercises, and find that using the TV to time their breaks and changes of routine work well.

It’s best if you’re a sports fan. Sports games are timed to the second, and you can use them to time your workout to the second. If you aren’t into sports, you can watch your favorite sitcom or drama and use the commercial breaks for your own break. You probably never looked forward to the commercials before, did you?

If you’re up for a long run, put on a movie. If you’d rather listen to music, time your workout to your favorite songs.

Mix It Up

Mixing up your treadmill routine with stretches and other exercises like stomach crunches or aerobics is great. It’s good because it provides an overall workout that is well-balanced and includes your whole body. It’s also good because it gives you some variety and lets you step off the treadmill for a while. Using your treadmill with other exercises is recommended by health fitness experts.

Work Out Naked!

The latest health research shows that exercising naked is the best way to stretch your muscles and take off extra weight. Just kidding! You don’t need any scientific evidence; you can do whatever you want to in the privacy of your own home. Whatever it takes to liven up your exercise routine! Just check to make sure the windows are closed first.

You don’t have to just turn it on and run. Combine your machine and your imagination and make some treadmill workouts of your own.

Treadmills offer lots of features and options. With high tech electronic consoles and adjustable incline settings, there are lots of ways to use your treadmill. But, there are some simple routines you can do to spice up your treadmill workouts without all the fancy buttons and gadgets.

What are some of the benefits of having a home gym? Talk to anyone these days and the most popular reason for not exercising is “no time”. The average amount of time it takes to go to the gym, wait on the machines, do the exercises, return home (and take a shower somewhere in there) is about 2 hours. Whether you work out in the morning or the evening, that is a big chunk of time that could be spent doing a myriad of other activities. Well, with a system in your home, travel time is no longer an issue.

A Bowflex Ultimate® 2 home gym can and will help you to reshape and tone your body completely. With gym-quality results in the comfort of your own home, you’ll lose weight, get great muscle tone and feel terrific! Does your local gym guarantee a full refund if after six weeks you decide it just isn’t working for you? Bowflex® promises full satisfaction. If, after six weeks, you decide the Bowflex Ultimate® 2 isn’t working for you, you’ll receive a full refund (less the shipping and handling costs) when you return the system.

Do you have 20 minutes per day at least three times a week available? Take the Bowflex® Six Week Challenge: exercise using their system for 20 minutes per day and 3 times a week and see if your body doesn’t change dramatically. On average, women reported losing an average of 16.96 pounds of fat and men averaged a loss of 27.95 pounds! Real results, at home, and in a short period of time. This can all be achieved in less time than it takes to watch your favorite sitcom on television!

With the Bowflex Ultimate® 2 home gym, you are essentially getting circuit training from one system. This single machine works your total body; arms, abs, legs and chest. In between each exercise, you can change your ‘setup’ quickly, so no fat burning benefits are lost. Your heart rate stays up and you continue your workout with very little interruption.

Examples of exercises that are possible with the Bowflex® system: seated ab crunch, front lat pulldown, shoulder press, leg curl, leg extension, biceps curl, seated row, chest fly and bench press. Another great benefit of this system is that while you are performing these and other exercises, you can control the resistance. Resistance training (strength training) produces muscle. The more muscle you have, the more fat you burn!

As you can see, there are many benefits to owning a Bowflex Ultimate® 2 home gym. Do some research and try yours soon!

It’s so easy to let yourself be lazy and make excuses for not exercising. My personal favorites are that I’m too busy, I don’t like going to gyms, and I don’t have the workout set I need to do it at home.

A treadmill offers a great solution to all of these excuses: You can use it at home anytime, and it’s the only thing you need for a good, cardiovascular workout. Even if you’re not a big exercise freak, using a simple treadmill in your own home has some great health benefits for you.

The Treadmill Is Good For Your Heat

Treadmills give you a great aerobic workout. A treadmill is a wonderful way to get your heart pumping, which is something all of us could do more often.

Of course, just using a treadmill isn’t a comprehensive workout routine; you also need proper nutrition, stretching and weight training to have a good over-all health plan. But, for those of us who need a little aerobic exercise and don’t want to head out to a gym, a treadmill offers a great way to get your blood pumping in your own home.

A good aerobic exercise three times a week can do wonders for your heart. Lack of aerobic exercise is a major component in heart disease and heart attack risk. Unfortunately, most of us live very sedentary lifestyles, so our hearts don’t naturally get the workout we need.

Burn Up Those Calories

You can lose those extra pounds and get back into those clothes you outgrew with a treadmill. When you’re trying to lose weight, you may feel self-conscious jogging around the neighborhood. You want your neighbors looking at you AFTER you take off the pounds. With a treadmill, you can start losing pounds in the privacy of their own homes!

Treadmills can be set to any speed you want to work out at. Brisk walking is good cardiovascular exercise, but to really burn those calories, you’ll need to crank that baby up. You can use your treadmill for as little as 15 or 20 minutes a day and start seeing results fast.

Fight Fatigue

Sometimes, chronic fatigue is caused by lack of exercise. Your body is not used to rigorous activity, so everyday things wear you out. As a result, you may not be sleeping well.

A steady treadmill exercise routine, no matter how light, can make you feel like you have more energy. If you get your heart and blood pumping just a little bit every day, you’ll notice that you sleep better and have more energy when you’re awake. It doesn’t have to be much; even a few times a week will produce results.

One word of warning: Don’t overdo it at first. Too much exercise too soon can hurt the next day. It’s not healthy to push yourself too hard. Start with just 15 minutes and see how you feel. As you build up stamina, you’ll be able to spend more time on it.

There’s nothing like noticing your results! After just a week you’ll notice that you feel better and your heart will thank you.

You’ve decided to purchase a Bowflex Ultimate® 2 home gym. Here are some frequently asked questions and answers concerning your purchase.

How do I choose the Bowflex® machine that is right for me? There is a Bowflex® machine that will fit your exact needs and meet your fitness goals. Since they come in several configurations and models, there is one that will be perfect for you. The Bowflex Ultimate® 2 features the latest in the top-of-the-line construction, design, and engineering. The Ultimate® 2 offers over 95 exercises, which is more than any other Bowflex® home gym.

How big is the machine and how easy is it to move around? The folded footprint for the Bowflex Ultimate® 2 is 44” x 46”. The dimensions of the machine run 3’ 10” x 7’ 8”. The height of the machine is 6′ 10″. The workout area needed is only 6′ 6″ x 9′ 4″. This model also features wheels on the back so you can conveniently roll it wherever you need it to go.

How do the Power Rod® units work? Do they offer real resistance? The Bowflex® Power Rod® System is a unique system and guarantees resistance from the start to finish of each exercise. Power Rods feel similar to dumbbells or free weights, but the difference is that they are progressive. This means that the more you flex the rods, the more weight you displace as you exercise. Power Rod® technology is the key to the effectiveness of the Bowflex® system.

What accessories come with my machine? The accessories for many of the Bowflex® home gyms include foot harnesses for aerobic rowing, workout manuals and leg press belts.

How long does it take to put my machine together? Using the detailed instruction manual that will accompany your machine, plan on approximately 1 to 3 hours.

How do I contact Bowflex®? There are three ways to reach our company: Send an e-mail to canadacustomerservice@nautilus.com if you have e-mail available. Call the company toll free at 1-800-216-9028. Or, snail mail still works by submitting a written request to: Nautilus Fitness Canada, Inc., 925 Keewatin Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R2X 2X4, Canada.

What are my payment options? Bowflex® has their own credit card, or you can use American Express, Visa, MasterCard or mail a check.
What type of warranty do I get with my purchase? Bowflex® machines are automatically warranted to the person who purchases the machine. The home gyms have limited warranties that cover all defects in material or workmanship. Commercial use or misuse is not covered.

The technology behind the Bowflex® line of home gyms is designed around the Power Rod® resistance concept. The Power Rod® technology has been patented and has been used by Bowflex® for 15 years. The Power Rods® are made from highly technical composite and then submitted to three different flex-tests prior to being installed on any Bowflex® machine. Bowflex® is so confident in this technology, they stand behind their no-time-limit warranty which states that the Power Rods® can flex over and over again but cannot be worn out. If you do wear them out somehow, it is guaranteed the rods will be replaced at no cost to you.

How does the Power Rod® work? If you want more resistance, you’ll use a rod that is larger in diameter. You have the option to use as little as 5 pounds of resistance or as much as 410 pounds of resistance with your Bowflex® home gym. Each model is a bit different, but Power Rod® upgrades are available.

Bowflex® home gyms are made right here in the United States. Unlike many companies on the market today, Bowflex® guarantees your complete satisfaction! If, after using the machine for six weeks, you decide it isn’t making a difference, return it to the company. You’ll receive a full refund, less your shipping handling, of course. Simply contact the Customer Service Department, obtain return authorization and return the machine within 2 weeks of the time authorization is given.

Bowflex® machines work with a pulley and cable system. They are the exact quality used on commercial aircraft. The cables are certified by independent labs, lubricated and then sealed with a protective nylon jacket.

All of the Bowflex® benches are molded from durable polyurethane. It is then fused to a high grade PVC covering (like the kind used in the car industry). The covering will resist cracking, tearing and even moisture, which ensures longer life for your machine.

The frame, or foundation, of all Bowflex® home gyms is of the highest quality, made from high grade carbon steel. Construction like this is typically found in public gyms.

The hand grips on the Bowflex® home gyms are unique. They are actually a 5-way hand grip or handle that can be used in the traditional manner or you can use the strap to wrap around your hand for additional support. Not only that, the strap can be used around your ankle, foot or it can be used as a shoulder cuff. This unique design is extremely versatile and Bowflex® has it.

All Bowflex® machines offer the handgrips, some style of bench and they all fold up for easy storage. There are resistance upgrades available for all of the machines. Certain accessory upgrades are also available.

Bowflex equipment is durable and built to last years. So, if you are looking out for a Bowflex fitness machine, a Used Bowflex is a good option. The bows are very sturdy and are designed in such a way, that they never wear out. It is generally not difficult to find a Used Bowflex in good shape. If you want it transported to your home, you require a truck or a mini-van with a large passenger capacity.

You could also rent a small trailer and attach it to the back of your vehicle. You will require this transport facility if you are not buying your Used Bowflex online. Of course, you will surely find the best prices and good choices and options online.

Your Research

You should get all the information about the various models of Bowflex fitness gyms that have been available over the years. It is important to remember, that the older the model, the fewer features it will have.

Besides looking for private sales online, you could start looking from your local sporting goods store which features used sporting goods equipment. Look through the yellow pages and you will be able to locate chain stores which specialize in used sporting goods equipment. Look also into your local newspaper under the classified advertisement section. The best deals for Used Bowflex are generally available online, but the shipping costs are generally in addition to the price, so you might exceed your savings.

Affordable Price

A lot of Used Bowflex is available and it might even cost you less than a few months of gym fees. Buying Used Bowflex is definitely a smart way to go, because many people dispose off their equipment after barely any use. Such people had invested in a new Bowflex machine, but other things have taken priority in their lives and the machines are just collecting dust.

When you are shopping for Used Bowflex, it is natural to be confused at the number of models available for each type of machine. Since you are looking for Used Bowflex machines, they do not vary a significant amount from one model to the other. If you are looking specifically for one with more accessories, your choice becomes easier. Otherwise, the main differences in the Used Bowflex are that the company released them at different times.

Used Bowflex models are available in many used sports stores because they sell very well. The Bowflex home gym is one of the most popular exercise equipment in the US. Firstly, they are durable and can stand the test of time, and often pass through multiple owners. Most of them are in excellent condition even if they have been used a lot. And the price concession is extremely good, so a Used Bowflex machine will cost less than half its original price.

You have ever heard of the Bowflex and are interested in purchasing it. However, you are not sure if it stands up to other fitness machines on the market today, then one of the best things you can do is a comparison of the Soloflex vs Bowflex.

Soloflex

First in this Soloflex vs Bowflex comparison we will discuss the Soloflex. This is an exercise machine that was released onto the market a few years ago. It uses an elastomer Weightstrap that is made of heavy duty rubber to create variable resistance. The point with this is that it stretched the force required to keep it moving which increases exponentially.

Bowflex

Now on the Soloflex vs Bowflex discussion we will explain the Bowflex. This is another incredibly popular exercise machine, and actually much more popular overall than the Soloflex, which is another important factor in the Soloflex vs Bowflex comparison.

What to Think About

If you are considering purchasing the Bowflex because you have seen in this Soloflex vs Bowflex comparison that the latter is definitely the better purchase. There are still a couple things that you are going to want to think about before going ahead and buying it.

You need to realize that the decision to purchase a Bowflex machine should not be taken lightly at all, as the machine is not inexpensive. But, it will definitely be worth it if you are going to be working out frequently.

You are going to need to assess yourself, your fitness level, your habits, your home environment, and your family, before you decide to buy a Bowflex. The Bowflex is a great machine for the general public, but may not meet the needs of an advanced exerciser. So, if you are an avid exerciser who has advanced needs, this may not be the right machine for you.

You also need the right home environment to use a Bowflex. It takes up relatively little space buy you will still need ample room to move it. If you know that you are going to have to move furniture or shift things around every time you go to use it, you may want to consider going with another fitness machine.

You really want to make exercise as simple and convenient as possible for you. This Soloflex vs Bowflex comparison will no doubt help you out a bit, but the decision of whether or not to buy either is really going to be up to you.

If you have a Bowflex machine, then one of the best things you can do is take a bit of time to create a personalized Bowflex workout routine. This is important because everyone is different and everyone is looking to work on different areas of their bodies.

Because of this, one Bowflex workout routine is not going to be right for everyone. So, you really need to take your own personal factors into consideration and use these to customize the best, most effective Bowflex workout routine for you.

Start Slow

Of course you are going to want to start off with a slower, easier Bowflex workout routine. If you are using the free weights for instance or the dumbbells, you are going to want to start off with a lighter resistance and perform fewer reps, until you make some improvement and progress a bit and then you can increase this accordingly.

Coming up with a workout routine really does not have to be rocket science, but you are going to have to be a bit educated and know what you are doing. Once you understand the basics you will pretty much be able to create the perfect workout routine.

The best idea is to create a week plan. Then you can switch up this plan as you progress and are able to handle more resistance. For instance you may want to work your chest and triceps on Monday, abdominals on Tuesday, take Wednesday and Thursday off, work your shoulders and legs on Friday and Saturday, and take Sunday off.

Then you may want to alternate this routine so you are only taking one day off a week, and then continue until you are workout out a little bit every day. You can ask a fitness expert or personal trainer to help you create your customized Bowflex workout routine if you like, especially if you are a novice because this will make it a great deal easier and show you how to get started.

You will also want to make sure that you have a customized nutrition plan, because you can work out all you want but if you are not eating the right things, you are not going to get any results. It is really important that you take proper care of your body and that you are eating right, getting lots of regular exercise, and avoiding any unhealthy habits such as drinking and smoking if you want to be as healthy as you can.

When the Bowflex home gym was first released, it opened a lot of eyes. Suddenly, an entire gym’s worth of weight lifting equipment could be purchased in one simple machine, small enough to fit in the home and easy enough for even the most beginner lifter to use.

However, with every positive comes a negative, and the Bowflex vs free weights debate continues on. Sometimes newer is not necessarily better, and it can be debated whether or not the Bowflex home gym truly does offer the same workout as traditional free weights. What is certain, however, is that each method offers something special, and maybe the answer to the Bowflex vs free weights debate is to simply include a little of both style.

Pros and Cons

Aesthetically, the Bowflex home gym excels in comparison to free weights. Many individuals choose the Bowflex vs free weights because they do not have a room at home dedicated solely to exercise, and the home gym can fit easily in even the smallest space while still offering countless exercises. Since no actual weights are involved, everything is compacted into a system of pulleys and cables, each mimicking certain weights.

Versus a full rack of free weights, benches and various other pieces of equipment, stylistically the Bowflex home gym is a better choice. Also, for those who live to far away from a gym, or who can save money by purchasing an at-home system, the Bowflex home gym is probably more beneficial than traveling to some far away gym to use a free weights room.

However, many lifters prefer free weights for many reasons. The pinnacle of the Bowflex vs free weights debate is not aesthetic - instead, it is functional. Does the Bowflex truly provide the same workout as free weights, or is just a cleverly-designed marketing ploy? Tension systems like the Bowflex home gym do work minor muscles that many free weights ignore, and while some lifters find the system awkward, that awkwardness is often due to larger muscles getting worked in new ways, so it is not entirely harmful.

However, free weights often offer heavier loads than the Bowflex can manage, so for the bodybuilder, the home gym may be useless. Another element of the Bowflex vs free weights arguments stems from the idea of balance. Using free weights, lifters must balance the weights in place while they are lifting. Machines like the Bowflex balance the weights for the user. Therefore, more can be lifted using the Bowflex than can be lifted using free weights, which hints at the idea that maybe free weights are more beneficial in some ways.

There are some fantastic Bowflex treadmills available on the market. If you have just purchased one or are even just considering it, learning how to use the Bowflex treadmills will be one of the most important first steps that you will need to take here.

Getting Started

If you have never used a treadmill before then you are definitely going to want to take it easy and do light workouts at first. The initial phase of using a treadmill could make you feel uncomfortable, so understand that it is a new machine and that it may take you a couple of tries before you get the hang of it.

Start by walking, and you can set a normal speed which would be around ay 5 km/hr to start off. As you begin to feel more comfortable with the machine you can start to increase the pace and speed it up. You may want to start off by using the handrails at first, but this will decrease the intensity of the workout, so as you begin to make improvement you will want to stop using the handrails to make sure that you are getting the most out of your workouts.

Once you progress and start to run on your Bowflex treadmills, make sure that you stay in the center of the machine so you can keep your balance and not trip and fall off. This will also make sure that you get the very most out of your workout.

There are also many other additional things that you can do if you want to make the most of your workout. For instance, you can try putting on some music that you like while you are working out. This will keep you from getting bored and also will make time go by faster so you will work out longer.

You may also want to think of having a friend or family member there with you, whether they are working out as well or not. They will be there to keep you company and help you enjoy your workout more, and not only that but they can also be a spotter which means that if you get hurt you will have someone there who will be able to help you.

Really, whenever you are working out you should have a spotter, even with a Bowflex treadmill, although it is considered as a very easy form of exercise. Bowflex treadmills are very effective and easy to use and so if you are just starting a fitness regime this is definitely a fitness machine you will want to start with.
