Bowflex Revolution XP Home Gym Review
The Bowflex Revolution XP Home Gym is the top of the line fitness machine from Nautilus. Choosing exercise equipment can be a difficult decision and Bowflex has garnered a lot of the attention with their infomercials. So you may be wondering, “does the Bowflex really work?” The answer is yes (for the most part) and I will explain.
About the Bowflex Revolution XP:
The Revolution XP home gym is a total body fitness machine that features 90 exercises and nearly 400 variations. This is accomplished through Spiraflex – a revolutionary weight resistance technology that uses a series of elastics wrapped around a coil. The result is a smooth and controlled exercise motion that enhances muscle conditioning and development. Being someone who owns a Bowflex and trains at a gym I can attest that working out on the Revolution is very similar to using a high-quality cable machine.
Bowflex Revolution XP Exercises:
Unlike free weights, the Revolution XP offers total control of your body form and range of motion. Doing a curl with dumbbells is a lot different than on a home gym. With the former, it’s very easy to swing your shoulders and cheat. With the Revolution XP, there is no momentum due to its design and you are forced to use the right form. Good form helps alot in building quality muscle.
However, one drawback of the XP is you are limited to 280 lbs of weight resistance. If you are an advanced bodybuilder or weightlifter, than I would suggest complimenting your workouts with a heavy set of free weights. Free weights do a better job of targeting stabilizer muscles than using a Revolution home gym. Keep in mind this will only matter if your goal is to get huge. For a lot of folks, building lean muscle is their overall goal making the Bowflex a good match.
Using the Bowflex Revolution XP:
As with any piece of workout equipment, you must adhere to a training schedule for maximum results. The XP will not magically transform your body and change your life. With so much versatility and possibilities picking an exercise can be a lot of fun. The XP comes with independent Freedom Arms that rotate 170 degrees to target your muscles from multiple angles. You also get a leg press plate, 5-position foot harness, squat harness, preacher curl attachment, and a Bowflex training DVD. Optionally, you can order a lat tower attachment for doing lat pull downs.
Bowflex Revolution XP Benefits:
- Perfect for folks who like working out in the comfort of their own.
- Each side works independently so two people can work out at once.
- Switching between exercises is easy and fast due to lightweight interlocking plates.
- Can perform 90 exercises and nearly 400 variations.
- Suitable for all fitness levels.
